Turkish club Fenerbahce has strongly rejected allegations by French winger Allan Saint-Maximin, who claimed he was subjected to a doping attempt during his time at the club.
The 28-year-old, who played on loan last season, made the claims during an appearance on French Twitch streamer Zack Nani’s channel.
“At one point, they even tried to dope me,” Saint-Maximin said.
“People don’t know these things. You cannot speak openly because they threaten you. They say, ‘If you talk, we will do this or that.’ Sometimes you find yourself in situations beyond football.”
He also blamed “non-football factors” surrounding the club for Fenerbahce’s failure to win the Super Lig title.
In response, Fenerbahce issued a statement condemning the player’s claims as distortions aimed at damaging the club’s reputation.
“We have followed with astonishment the recent statements made by Allan Saint-Maximin, who played for our club during the 2024–25 season, on a social media platform,” the club said.
“By distorting the facts regarding the medical treatment he received following a health issue, the player has attempted to mislead the public and damage the reputation of our club,” the club added.
The club also announced that it will pursue all legal avenues to protect its institutional integrity.
Saint-Maximin made 23 appearances last season but struggled to secure a regular place under coach Jose Mourinho, with whom he reportedly clashed.
