Fenerbahce is expected to sign English winger Mason Greenwood for €40 million ($45.7 milion) plus €2 million in bonuses after reducing the overall cost of the proposed package by €37 million compared with an earlier offer, according to Turkish media.
The 24-year-old is due to sign a four-year contract worth €8 million per season, with up to €3 million in performance-related bonuses, taking the total value of the package to as much as €86 million.
Greenwood first emerged as a Fenerbahce target during the club's June presidential election, when candidate Hakan Safi made the English winger a key part of his campaign.
Safi previously stated that he had reached an agreement with the player before losing the election, but the club continued to pursue the move under Aziz Yildirim.
According to the report, Safi's proposal included a €50 million transfer fee plus €5 million in bonuses. Greenwood was also set to receive €12 million per season with an additional €5 million in bonuses.
Yildirim negotiated revised terms that lowered the transfer fee to €40 million plus €2 million in bonuses, while Greenwood agreed to a salary of €8 million per year with performance-related bonuses of up to €3 million.
The €40 million transfer fee would become the highest in Fenerbahce's history and rank as the second-largest transfer in Turkish Super Lig history behind Victor Osimhen's €75 million move.
Fenerbahce appears to have pulled ahead of its European rivals in the race for Greenwood after neither Roma nor Atletico Madrid matched the Turkish club's financial package, Turkish media reported.
Football director Oguz Cetin added to the speculation most recently by telling reporters the winger was "coming" when asked about the proposed move.
The England winger is expected to undergo a medical once the remaining paperwork is completed before flying to Austria to join Fenerbahce's preseason training camp. Greenwood also missed Marseille's latest training session as negotiations entered their final stages.
He heads to Istanbul club after a standout season with Marseille, tallying 26 goals and 11 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions to rank among Europe's most prolific wingers.
Under the proposed deal, Marseille would receive 45% of the €40 million transfer fee, or €18 million. Manchester United would collect €16 million, representing a 40% share of the fee, while Getafe would receive €4 million through a 10% clause. Greenwood would also be entitled to €2 million under a separate agreement with Manchester United.
