Istanbul club Fenerbahce is reportedly preparing a squad overhaul, with N'Golo Kante and Ederson among several high-profile players who could leave as the club looks to raise funds and expand its transfer budget.
Transfer activity dominated discussion during the club's presidential election campaign, but supporters are still waiting for significant movement in the market. Former president Aziz Yildirim returned to office with a record vote tally, yet no marquee signing has followed.
According to the Türkiye daily, Yildirim and his team are looking to create room for new arrivals while also bringing down the club's wage bill as they seek to build a squad capable of ending the club's 12-year title drought.
35-year-old French midfielder N'Golo Kante, widely regarded as one of the greatest defensive midfielders of all time, joined Fenerbahce in February 2026 after leaving Saudi side Al-Ittihad.
The high-profile transfer was briefly held up by administrative issues, even prompting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to intervene and help clear the remaining hurdles.
Fenerbahce announced that Kante would receive a €14.4 million ($16.7 million) signing bonus and €5.5 million for the rest of the 2025-26 campaign, with his salary rising to €11 million per season through 2027-28.
Ederson arrived from Manchester City in September 2025 after Fenerbahce agreed to an €11 million transfer fee, with the Brazilian goalkeeper signing a 3+1-year deal worth €11 million annually.
However, despite arriving in a high-profile move, Ederson struggled to meet expectations throughout the season. A series of costly errors, particularly in the closing stages of the campaign, further damaged his standing among Fenerbahce supporters.
Another Brazilian, Anderson Talisca, is also among the players Fenerbahce could offload, the report suggested. The attacking midfielder joined from Al-Nassr in January 2025 and signed an extension until June 2028 on a reported €5.5 million annual salary.
The strategy centers on moving out foreign players, generating transfer income and easing salary commitments. Portuguese defender Nelson Semedo, Dutch winger Anthony Musaba and Brazilian midfielder Fred are among the players no longer considered part of the club's plans.
The futures of Dutch defender Jayden Oosterwolde and English left-back Archie Brown will depend on offers that arrive during the transfer window, the report added.
