Fenerbahce is considering parting ways with N'Golo Kante after reported interest from French side Paris FC, with the midfielder's high cost emerging as the biggest obstacle to completing a deal, the Turkish media reported.
The 35-year-old France international joined Fenerbahce from Saudi Arabia's Al-Ittihad in February 2026 after lengthy negotiations, and his future is now in doubt as the club looks to free up room in its budget.
Kante is reportedly open to returning to France, but Fenerbahce wants Paris FC to cover the remaining €7 million ($8 million) of his €14.5 million signing bonus before approving the move.
The Turkish club has already paid €7.5 million and is prepared to let the midfielder leave if Paris FC assumes responsibility for the outstanding amount, Turkish outlet Sozcu reported.
Under his current contract with Fenerbahce, Kante earned €5.5 million in the 2025-2026 season and is set to earn €11 million per season in the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 campaigns.
Widely regarded as one of the world's top defensive midfielders, Kante continues to perform at the highest level despite being 35.
Paris FC, meanwhile, has emerged as one of French football's fastest-rising clubs. After ending a 46-year absence from Ligue 1 with promotion in 2025, the club finished 11th in its first season back in the top flight.
Backed by the Arnault family, with Red Bull holding a minority stake, Paris FC has invested heavily in a long-term project and is now looking to establish itself as a regular top-flight side while closing the gap on Paris Saint-Germain.
In that context, Kante is viewed as an experienced leader who could anchor the midfield and help shape a young squad during the club's next phase of development.
Since joining Fenerbahce in February, Kante has made 18 appearances, scoring two goals.
