Fenerbahce have placed Alexander Sorloth at the top of their January transfer list, as reports in Türkiye claim the Norwegian forward is keen to leave Atletico Madrid. The possibility of his departure has raised expectations in Istanbul that the move could finally materialise.

According to journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, the club accelerated its transfer plans after narrowing the points gap with league leaders Galatasaray to just one. He stated that Sorloth now sits firmly at the centre of Fenerbahce’s strategy for the winter window, adding that the player himself is understood to be willing to part ways with the Spanish side.

Club president’s long-held ambition

Fenerbahce’s president Sadettin Saran has openly described Sorloth as someone who “fills my dreams,” a phrase that has continued to fuel speculation around the striker’s arrival. His remarks have been viewed by many supporters as a strong signal that the club will push hard to make the deal happen.

Management sources say the board is preparing an offer structured as a loan with a purchase option, and the official approach is expected to be made soon. The club is reportedly waiting for the conditions to align before submitting the proposal.
