Fenerbahce head coach Domenico Tedesco has written his name into the club’s league history, becoming only the third manager to stay unbeaten across his first 18 Super League matches in charge, a milestone that had not been seen at the club for 61 years.
In Week 18 of the Trendyol Super League (Türkiye’s top-flight football league), Fenerbahce came from behind twice to beat Corendon Alanyaspor 3-2 away from home. The result lifted the Istanbul club to 42 points and kept them as the league’s only unbeaten side.
Anderson Talisca struck twice to drive the turnaround, while Anthony Musaba supplied the other goal that carried Fenerbahce over the line.
Marco Asensio also stayed central to the attacking story, providing the assist for the late winning goal after picking up the ball in midfield and slipping a pass into Talisca’s run in the 78th minute.
With this unbeaten stretch, Tedesco became the third coach in Fenerbahce history to avoid defeat in his first 15 Super League matches, following Miroslav Kokotovic in 1962/63 and Oscar Hold in 1964/65.
Those earlier seasons ended differently for the club, as Fenerbahce finished third in 1962/63, while they went on to win the title in 1964/65.
Beyond the coach-specific milestone, the team’s broader record also stood out.
After 18 league matches, Fenerbahce had put together 12 wins and six draws, marking the third season in which the club has gone through its first 18 Super League games without a defeat, after 1964/65 and 2005/06.
Talisca again emerged as the headline performer, taking his Super League goal tally to 11 and scoring nine times in his last six matches.
Asensio, meanwhile, kept contributing at a steady rate, as he has only failed to register a goal or assist in one of Fenerbahce’s last 10 league games, the exception being the Galatasaray derby.
In Super League terms this season, he has eight goals and five assists in 13 appearances.
