Istanbul club Fenerbahce's Spanish midfielder Marco Asensio has reportedly attracted transfer interest from Atletico Madrid, while the Yellow Canaries continue negotiations with the Madrid side for the potential transfer of Norwegian striker Alexander Sorloth, Spanish media reported.

Interest in Asensio has also come from another Spanish club, Villarreal, which failed to sign the player during the summer transfer window despite competing with Fenerbahce for his signature, the sports daily AS reported.

Fenerbahce shuts door on Asensio exit

However, Fenerbahce has reportedly made clear that the player will not be transferred under any circumstances. The Istanbul-based club considers Asensio "absolutely non-transferable" and has dismissed all approaches.

Head coach Domenico Tedesco has also weighed in, submitting a report to the club’s management that underscores the importance of keeping both Asensio and Slovak defender Milan Skriniar.

According to the report, their continued presence is vital to the team’s performance and stability in the second half of the season.

Since arriving in Türkiye less than a year ago, Asensio has quickly become one of the key players for both Fenerbahce and the Turkish Super Lig. In 19 official matches this season, he has scored nine goals and provided five assists.

Sorloth tops Fenerbahce’s shortlist as En-Nesyri exit looms

While ruling out the possibility of Asensio’s departure, Fenerbahce is actively seeking to reinforce its front line ahead of the January transfer window, with negotiations to bring Norwegian striker Alexander Sorloth to the club reportedly ongoing.

The club is evaluating options to replace Moroccan forward Youssef En-Nesyri, formerly of Spanish side Sevilla, who may be offloaded to make room for a new signing, with Sorloth emerging as the top target due to his strong fit with Tedesco’s tactical approach.

Fenerbahce’s sporting director, Ertan Torunogullari, is reported to have held discussions in Doha with Sorloth’s agent, indicating early-stage negotiations, Turkish media reported this week.

According to the reports, no deal has been finalized yet, but the transfer could be completed for a €35 million ($41.2 million) fee and an annual salary of €11 million.
