Liverpool's 33-year-old Egyptian star Mohamed Salah has reportedly dismissed any possibility of a transfer to Türkiye following contact from Istanbul club Fenerbahce, Turkish media reported.
The approach aimed to lure Liverpool star Mohamed Salah amid reports of unrest at the English club, where the 33-year-old forward has reportedly fallen out of favor under new head coach Arne Slot and lost his place in the starting lineup.
Fenerbahce officials met with Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas, on Monday to explore the possibility of bringing the Egyptian forward to Istanbul.
The club had reportedly been monitoring growing speculation that Salah was unhappy at Liverpool and sought to determine whether a move to Türkiye might be an option.
However, Salah’s camp dismissed the possibility. Abbas stated clearly that Türkiye is not among their considered destinations. "He will either stay at Liverpool or move to Saudi Arabia," he told the Fenerbahce representatives during the meeting, according to Turkish news outlet sabah.com.tr.
Salah, 33, has appeared in 20 matches for Liverpool this season, contributing five goals and four assists, while he struggles to find playing time following his public clash with coach Slot.
The Egyptian star is currently under contract with Liverpool through the summer of 2027, earning a reported net annual salary of €14 million ($16.3 million), making him one of the highest-paid players at the club and a financially challenging target for most teams outside Europe’s top leagues.
Previous reports also had suggested that another Istanbul side, Galatasaray, or Saudi club Al Hilal would be his next step, as both were reportedly keeping a close watch on his situation.
Since joining Liverpool in 2017 from AS Roma, Salah has scored over 190 goals across all competitions, helping the club secure multiple trophies, including the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, and FA Cup.
