Portuguese giants FC Porto have announced the appointment of Italian coach Francesco Farioli as their new head coach, following the departure of Martin Anselmi.
Farioli, 35, is widely regarded as one of the most promising young coaches in European football.
He has previously managed clubs in Türkiye, France, and the Netherlands, gaining recognition for his tactical intelligence and progressive style of play.
Porto, who last won the Primeira Liga title in the 2022/23 season, will be hoping the Italian can guide them back to the top.
Farioli began his coaching career in Türkiye, working as an assistant at Alanyaspor during the 2020–21 season.
Later that same year, he took over as head coach at Fatih Karagumruk. He returned to Alanyaspor in December 2021 as head coach and remained with the Mediterranean club until February 2023.
Following his time in Türkiye, Farioli managed French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice during the 2023-24 season. He most recently led Ajax in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Under his tenure, Ajax held a nine-point lead over PSV Eindhoven with five games remaining, but four consecutive winless matches ultimately cost them the title.
