Türkiye's women's national volleyball team, known by the nickname Sultans of the Net, defeated Brazil 3-1 in the final of the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Nations League (VNL) on Sunday.
The match was played at the East Asian Games Dome in Macau, a special administrative region of China, and marked the team's first VNL title.
Middle blocker Sinead Jack Kisal, a naturalized Turkish citizen born in Trinidad and Tobago, was among the players celebrating the win.
Speaking to reporters after the final, she said the title reflected months of preparation with the squad and coaching staff throughout the summer.
Kisal added that she wanted to thank everyone involved in the campaign, describing the group of players and technical staff as central to the result.
"Türkiye has always been my home, and I am proud that I have learned the national anthem," Jack Kisal said, adding that singing it before matches gives her a sense of strength.
Born on Nov. 8, 1993, in the city of Mount Hope in Trinidad and Tobago, a Caribbean nation, Jack Kisal stands 1.98 meters tall and plays as a middle blocker, a position responsible for blocking and attacking near the net.
She began her professional career with Poland's AZS Bialystok in 2011 and has since played for clubs in Poland, Russia and Italy.
In Türkiye, she has represented Galatasaray and Eczacibasi before joining her current club, Fenerbahce, one of the leading teams in the Sultanlar Ligi, Türkiye's top women's volleyball league.
Jack Kisal gained Turkish citizenship after marrying fellow professional volleyball player Murathan Kisal on Aug. 8, 2019, and took his surname.
The move made her eligible to compete as a Turkish national in the Sultanlar Ligi, and she was later called up to the national team.
Among her career highlights, Jack Kisal won a league gold medal with a Polish club during the 2020-2021 season and was named best middle blocker in Japan's top league in both the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 seasons.
In 2025, she was also part of the Türkiye squad that won a silver medal at the World Championship.
Also celebrating Sunday's title was Defne Basyolcu, who is playing her first season with the senior national team.
"This is my first season with the national team, my first title, my first medal and my first trophy," Basyolcu said, describing the range of emotions she felt sharing the achievement with her more experienced teammates.
Thanking those who had supported the team, Basyolcu said the squad had not given up at any point during the final and expressed confidence in further success ahead.
She added that preparations would now turn to the upcoming European Championship, where the team aims to build on its recent run of results.
Türkiye's women's national team has emerged as one of international volleyball's most competitive sides in recent seasons, reaching the World Championship final in 2025 in addition to Sunday's Nations League title.
