Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk confirmed on Monday that the club is close to finalizing the transfer of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli, describing talks as “very positive.”
“We are getting close to the end of the Osimhen transfer. Everything is progressing well,” Buruk told reporters at the team's training camp.
“The player gave a positive response, and Napoli is also in favor. We hope to finalize it soon.”
Galatasaray have reportedly offered Osimhen a three-year deal worth €12 million ($14 million) per season, including performance-based bonuses.
“Our transfer strategy has revolved around Osimhen,” Buruk said. “Once this deal is complete, we will shape the rest of the squad accordingly.”
Buruk also confirmed that a new goalkeeper is on the way, following the departure of club legend Fernando Muslera. Galatasaray is currently negotiating with Manchester City for Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson.
He noted that the squad is slightly overcrowded at the moment, with young players and returning internationals joining the camp.
“Some players will leave. We need to generate funds through sales before making further signings.”
Of Mauro Icardi, Buruk said the striker had resumed light training. “He is our captain. His attitude and motivation are excellent. He will need some time to return to full fitness.”
Asked about potential departures, Buruk avoided giving names but said all offers will be evaluated.
“We are happy with every player. But we also have to be strategic, especially considering the foreign player limit in Türkiye.”
Galatasaray begins its league campaign on Aug. 8, with the UEFA Champions League squad list due on Sept. 2.
