Galatasaray’s 3–1 home win over Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League delivered a fresh cash injection, with the club adding €2.1 million ($2.4 million) in prize money from UEFA’s elite competition. According to Hurriyet, once matchday ticket income and GS Store sales (the club’s official merchandise outlets) are factored in, the takings from the night exceeded €5 million.
The Istanbul side has now recorded two victories in its first three group games.
The club had already received a €23 million participation payment last month for taking part in the competition and, with the Liverpool and Bodo/Glimt results included, its Champions League revenue to date was stated as roughly €33 million.
Club sources highlighted in the local reporting point to the importance of ancillary income on European nights. Beyond UEFA prize payments, home fixtures can lift gate receipts and retail sales on the same day, allowing the club to book significantly more than the base victory bonus.
