Galatasaray finished second in the FIBA Basketball Champions League after falling to Spanish side Unicaja Malaga in the final, with a score of 83-67.
The final took place at SUNEL Arena in Athens, Greece. Unicaja Malaga took control early, finishing the first quarter ahead 19-13 and going into halftime with a 37-31 lead. They maintained their advantage in the third quarter (56-49) and closed out the game strongly in the final period.
With this victory, Unicaja Malaga secured their second consecutive Champions League title. Last season, they won the trophy by defeating fellow Spanish team Tenerife 80-75 in the final.
Galatasaray became the third Turkish team to reach the final of the competition. Banvit was the first, reaching the final in the 2016-17 season but losing to Tenerife 63-59. Pinar Karsiyaka followed in the 2020-21 season, losing the final to San Pablo Burgos 64-59.
Earlier this season, Galatasaray and Unicaja Malaga met twice in the Round of 16. Galatasaray won the away game 86-84, while Malaga claimed the home match 97-91. With their win in the final, the Spanish team completed the season with two victories over the Turkish club.
Galatasaray President Dursun Ozbek attended the final, watching the game alongside football head coach Okan Buruk and other board members. Notably, Panathinaikos head coach Ergin Ataman was also present in the arena.
