Galatasaray’s leadership stressed that Victor Osimhen does not have a release clause and suggested the transfer fee already paid now looks “low,” while underlining plans to reinforce the team without breaking up the core.
At a signing ceremony, President Dursun Ozbek said there is no release clause in Victor Osimhen’s contract—a “release clause” being a preset buyout amount that lets other clubs sign a player without negotiation. He argued that, although the transfer fee was debated as high at the time, “today the football community thinks the amount paid was low and the player’s value is much higher.”
Abdullah Kavukcu, vice chair of Sportif A.S.—Galatasaray’s publicly listed sports company that oversees football operations—remarked, “If 75 million euros is all it takes, then anyone can go and sign him.”
He added that the real issue is creating that level of financial capacity, stating they achieved it under the president’s leadership. Kavukcu also claimed Osimhen received a much higher offer elsewhere but “preferred Galatasaray.”
Kavukcu praised Baris Alper Yilmaz as one of the squad’s most valuable players over the last three seasons, noting the board aims to add pieces without dismantling the current group.
On Mauro Icardi, he underlined the striker’s importance and said the forward has a contract until the end of the season, adding they would like him to stay and will discuss their position when that day comes.
Citing feedback from prominent names, Kavukcu said that figures around players such as Leroy Sane and Ilkay Gundogan, and clubs like Liverpool, were deeply impressed by Galatasaray’s supporters, asserting that the atmosphere stands out globally.
