Galatasaray Women's Football Team has signed experienced Portuguese defender Carole Costa, adding one of Portugal's most-capped players to their squad.
The Istanbul club, traditionally represented by yellow and red, announced that it had reached an agreement with the 36-year-old defender, who has made over 190 appearances for the Portugal women's national team.
Following the signing, Costa said she was delighted to join what she described as a major club and pledged to give her best while helping the team compete for success.
"I am very happy to be at Galatasaray. This is a very big club. I am here to help my team and bring many happy moments to our supporters," Costa said.
She also called on Galatasaray supporters to turn up in large numbers and back the women's team, adding that she believed the squad could give them moments of joy and pride.
Costa has built up extensive experience during a career that has included spells with Leixoes SC, Sporting and Benfica in Portugal.
She has also played in Germany for SGS Essen, MSV Duisburg and BV Cloppenburg.
