Galatasaray received a major setback just hours before their UEFA Champions League match against Norway’s Bodo/Glimt, as star midfielder Ilkay Gundogan was ruled out due to injury. The critical Group Stage clash will take place at RAMS Park in Istanbul, kicking off at 7:45 p.m. local time.
According to Turkish journalist Ali Naci Kucuk, Gundogan sustained an injury during the team’s final tactical training session and was unable to complete the workout. The club has not yet released an official statement on the extent of the injury, but it has been confirmed that the Germany international will not feature in the matchday squad.
Head coach Okan Buruk is expected to turn to Brazilian midfielder Gabriel Sara to fill Gundogan’s place in the starting 11.
