Galatasaray has officially announced the signing of German international midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, who most recently played for Manchester City in the English Premier League. The 34-year-old, born in Germany to a Turkish family, has agreed to a two-year contract with the Istanbul-based club.
According to the club statement, Manchester City released Gundogan on a free transfer. The player signed a contract valid until the end of the 2026-2027 season.
Under the terms of the deal, he will receive a guaranteed annual salary of €4.5 million ($5.2 million) for each of the two seasons.
During the previous campaign, Gundogan made 54 appearances across competitions for Manchester City.
He contributed with five goals, continuing his reputation as a versatile central midfielder known for his composure on the ball and his ability to control the pace of play.
