Trabzonspor and Galatasaray will face off in the Ziraat Turkish Cup final on Wednesday. The match will take place at Gaziantep Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 8:45 p.m. local time (GMT+3).

Trabzonspor will be aiming to win their 10th Turkish Cup title, while Galatasaray hopes to lift the trophy for the first time since 2019 and end a five-year drought in the competition.

Form and head-to-head record

Galatasaray enters the final in strong form, having won their last seven matches across all competitions. Their route to the final included victories over some of Türkiye’s top clubs, including a 2-0 win against rivals Fenerbahce and a solid semifinal performance against TUMOSAN Konyaspor.

The Istanbul club also holds the upper hand in recent meetings with Trabzonspor. Galatasaray defeated them twice in the league this season, most recently with a 2-0 win just three days ago, thanks to goals from Abdulkerim Bardakci and Alvaro Morata.

Trabzonspor, who currently sits third in the Super Lig standings, has been consistent throughout the season but will need to overcome their recent struggles against Galatasaray to secure the cup.

Team news

Trabzonspor will be without Huseyin Turkmen, Enis Destan, and young goalkeeper Onuralp Cevikkan, all of whom are sidelined due to injury. Despite these absences, head coach Abdullah Avci is expected to field a competitive and experienced side.

Galatasaray, led by manager Okan Buruk, has no reported injuries or suspensions ahead of the final.

What’s at stake

The match holds significant importance for both clubs. Galatasaray, the most successful team in Turkish Cup history with 18 titles, are looking to end a six-year wait for the trophy. Their last cup win came in the 2018–19 season with a 3-1 victory over Akhisarspor.

Trabzonspor last won the competition in 2020, beating Istanbul Basaksehir in the final. A win on Wednesday would mark their 10th Turkish Cup title and guarantee a place in next season’s UEFA Europa League.

The final will be played as a single-leg match. If the score is tied after 90 minutes, the game will go to extra time and, if necessary, a penalty shootout.
