Galatasaray defeated Sivasspor 4-1 at home in the 34th week of the Turkish Super Lig, with Nigerian superstar Victor Osimhen scoring twice to bring his total to 33 goals across all competitions — a new career high.
If Osimhen scores two more goals, he will surpass Mario Jardel to become the highest single-season scorer for Galatasaray. With four more goals, he could also break the record held by Fenerbahce legend Alex de Souza for the most goal contributions in a single season in Türkiye.
With his latest performance, Osimhen now leads the Super Lig scoring chart with 24 goals.
In front of a packed RAMS Park, Galatasaray took control early against relegation-battling Sivasspor. Lucas Torreira opened the scoring in the 9th minute. Six minutes later, Osimhen doubled the lead, and Barış Alper Yılmaz added a third in the 21st minute. Osimhen struck again in the 31st minute to make it 4-0 before Sivasspor’s Rey Manaj pulled one back in the 33rd minute.
No goals were scored in the second half, and Galatasaray extended its unbeaten home run to 16 league matches. The club now sits atop the league with 83 points.
With a game in hand, Galatasaray’s lead over closest rival Fenerbahce has temporarily grown to eight points. Fenerbahce is set to host archrival Beşiktaş on Sunday at Ulker Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. local time (GMT+3).
