Hakan Calhanoglu—captain of the Turkish national team and a key orchestrator in Inter Milan’s midfield—has denied recent speculations linking him with moves to Turkish clubs Galatasaray and Fenerbahce.
Speaking exclusively to TRT Spor on July 22, Hakan Calhanoglu’s agent, Gordon Stipic‑Wipfler, addressed growing speculation linking the midfielder with a move back to Türkiye. While he confirmed that Calhanoglu and his entourage did meet informally with figures from both Galatasaray and Fenerbahce during a recent trip to Istanbul, the agent made it clear that no formal discussions or transfer negotiations took place.
“No talks have been held,” Stipic stated firmly, adding that unless a serious proposal is submitted within 24 hours, Calhanoglu will report for pre-season training and continue at Inter for the 2025–26 season.
Stipic also acknowledged Calhanoglu’s longstanding personal connection to Galatasaray—the club he supported as a child—but emphasized that such emotional ties do not reflect the current market reality.
“Galatasaray have other plans,” he said, suggesting that the Istanbul club is not actively pursuing the player, and reiterating that no substantive negotiations are underway.
Tensions also surfaced within Inter. Following a 0–2 defeat to Fluminense, star forward Lautaro Martinez publicly criticized team members lacking commitment—widely interpreted as directed at Calhanoglu. The player responded, citing a muscle injury, reaffirmed his loyalty and expressed disappointment at the accusations.
