Moroccan footballer Munir El Haddadi, who plays for Iranian club Esteghlal, has confirmed that he left Iran by road and crossed into Türkiye following recent attacks carried out by the United States and Israel, saying he is now safe and preparing to travel onward to Spain.
The player shared the update through his Instagram account, responding to growing concern from fans and followers about his situation in Iran as security conditions deteriorated.
El Haddadi explained that he had initially planned to leave Iran by air but was unable to do so after evacuation procedures disrupted scheduled departures.
According to his statement, the planned flight did not take off, forcing him and those around him to seek alternative ways out of the country.
In his message, the footballer thanked supporters for reaching out and expressed appreciation for the concern shown toward him during the unfolding crisis.
He said, “I want to thank everyone for the messages and concern about my situation in Iran. Yesterday, the intention was to leave the country by air, but in the end, we were evacuated from the plane and were unable to take off.”
El Haddadi stated that Esteghlal provided a vehicle so he could travel out of the country safely. He noted that the land crossing proceeded without complications, enabling him to reach Türkiye, where he confirmed he was safe at the time of posting.
He added in his statement that he expected to arrive in Spain within hours, signaling a swift onward journey after leaving the region.
The Moroccan international began his professional career at Barcelona, one of Europe’s leading football clubs, before moving through several Spanish teams, including Valencia, Alaves, Sevilla and Getafe.
He joined Esteghlal in September 2025, marking his first move to Iranian football.
