Istanbul Basaksehir secured a 4-0 home victory over Bulgaria’s Cherno More in the UEFA Conference League second qualifying round return match on Thursday, advancing to the third qualifying round.
In the 61st minute, Pedro received a pass from Sidney and took a shot from the right diagonal inside the penalty area. The ball bounced off goalkeeper Muhammed Sengezer and was cleared by Basaksehir’s defense.
Three minutes later, Sidney dribbled past Onur Bulut on the left wing and fired a shot from outside the penalty area, but the ball narrowly missed the target.
Basaksehir extended their lead in the 80th minute when Operi headed the ball into the net from a corner kick by Kemen at the far post.
In the 85th minute, Kemen’s header near the penalty spot from Operi’s cross went wide.
Basaksehir finished the match 4-0 and moved on to face Norwegian club Viking in the third qualifying round.
In the second qualifying round return leg, Viking defeated Slovenian team Koper 5-3 after a dominant 7-0 win in the first leg. Sander Svendsen scored three times for Viking in the 19th, 52nd and 90th minutes, while Edwin Austbo added goals in the 76th and 89th minutes.
Koper’s goals came from Deni Juric, who scored a penalty in the 3rd minute and another goal in the 45th, and Kamil Manseri in the 56th minute.
With a 12-3 aggregate score, Viking eliminated Koper and will meet Basaksehir in the third qualifying round.
The two legs will be played on August 7 and 14.
