Istanbul’s Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation on Tuesday into allegations that user data belonging to a former online betting platform tied to Saran Holding, the conglomerate owned by the Turkish-American businessman recently elected as Fenerbahce’s president, may have been improperly accessed as part of the broader betting investigation in Turkish football.

The inquiry centers on claims concerning "tuttur.com," a betting website that once operated under a virtual dealership agreement allowing firms to run licensed online gambling services in Türkiye.

Betting-platform records under scrutiny

The prosecutor’s office said an ex officio probe, launched without a formal complaint, was opened after allegations went viral on social media, accusing the firm of manipulating user data shared with the Turkish Football Federation and authorities in the ongoing betting investigation of Turkish football.

The claims hint at alleged interference with membership data belonging to registered users, some of whom may be included in the wider investigation.

According to the official statement, judicial IT teams are conducting on-site examinations of the computers, software systems, and digital logs previously used to operate the betting site.

Officials emphasized that, at this stage, they have not established whether user data was accessed or altered.

Prosecutors probe claims of altered betting data

Founded in 2009 under Saran Holding, tuttur.com was one of the licensed online betting platforms in Türkiye and operated until September 2025.

After the conglomerate’s owner, Sadettin Saran, was elected as Fenerbahce’s new president in September, the platform halted all operations, as individuals involved in sports are not permitted to participate in such betting organizations under existing regulations.

The broader betting probe in Turkish football has uncovered an unprecedented scandal, revealing that 152 of 571 referees were actively placing bets, while 1,024 players were referred to the TFF’s disciplinary body, the PFDK, including 27 Super Lig players.

As part of the investigation launched by legal authorities, eight individuals—including Super Lig club Eyupspor President Murat Ozkaya and six referees—were taken into custody.

The findings that brought the scandal to light were derived from data obtained from all licensed betting platforms, including tuttur.com.

Following the disclosures, some social media accounts claimed that data provided to authorities from tuttur.com's database had been altered to either exclude or include specific individuals.
