Istanbulspor's 19-year-old Gambian footballer Elvin Mendy underwent angiography after experiencing chest pain and shortness of breath following the club's match against Manisa FK, with medical tests showing no problems in his heart vessels, the club said.
Mendy was taken to hospital after becoming unwell while travelling back to Istanbul on the team bus. Istanbulspor said the young midfielder was in good condition and remained under medical observation while doctors carried out further checks.
Mendy, who played in the match against Manisa FK, began feeling unwell as the team bus passed near Kirkagac in Manisa province.
After complaining of chest pain and shortness of breath, he was taken as a precaution to the emergency department at Kirkagac State Hospital.
Initial examinations and clinical findings raised suspicion of a possible heart attack, prompting doctors to transfer him to Manisa City Hospital for more detailed tests.
Mendy was placed under treatment in the intensive care unit at Manisa City Hospital before undergoing angiography, a medical imaging procedure used to examine blood vessels, including those supplying the heart.
Istanbulspor later said the procedure found no problem in Mendy's heart vessels and no indication of a heart-related medical condition.
The club added that Mendy's condition was good and that his monitoring would continue after the necessary medical checks.
