Serie A side Lazio has reportedly reopened talks over a move for Argentine striker Mauro Icardi, with the former Galatasaray forward now said to be more receptive to joining the Italian club.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Lazio has re-established contact with Mauro Icardi's agent following initial discussions during the summer transfer window. Talks between the two sides have resumed as the club evaluates whether to push ahead with a deal.
Icardi is said to have moved closer to the idea of joining Lazio compared with previous weeks and would be ready to consider an offer if the financial terms of the transfer can be worked out.
The 33-year-old became a free agent after his contract with Galatasaray expired following the end of last season.
Lazio is therefore assessing the conditions surrounding a possible deal before deciding whether to step up its pursuit of the Argentine forward.
The club is also expected to hold further talks with head coach Gennaro Gattuso on Monday and Tuesday to get the technical staff's assessment of the potential signing.
Lazio's management is expected to decide whether to carry on with the operation after those discussions.
Icardi made 47 appearances for Galatasaray last season, scoring 16 goals and providing three assists.
