A 4-year-old Racing Santander supporter received a signed Real Madrid shirt and a personal apology from Aurelien Tchouameni after being struck by the midfielder's wayward shot during a league match, while Kylian Mbappe also stopped to check on the young fan.
The incident unfolded at El Sardinero, Racing Santander's home stadium, where a boy named Maximo was watching his team face Real Madrid.
Shortly after halftime, with Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid leading 3-0, Tchouameni attempted a powerful right-footed shot from well outside the penalty area.
However, the ball sailed over the crossbar and flew into the stands, where it struck Maximo, leaving the 4-year-old in tears as his family looked on with concern.
Following the final whistle, Maximo and his father were invited into the stadium's facilities, where Tchouameni personally apologized for the incident and handed the boy a signed Real Madrid shirt.
The encounter took another turn when Mbappe walked past the pair in a corridor. After hearing Maximo call out his name, the French forward stopped to greet him and check whether he was all right.
The gestures from both Real Madrid players helped turn an upsetting moment into a memorable post-match encounter for the young Racing supporter.
