Türkiye’s national shooters, Damla Kose and Mert Nalbant, secured a historic bronze medal in the mixed team 10-meter air rifle category at the ISSF World Championship Rifle/Pistol 2025, marking the country’s first-ever podium finish in this discipline at the world level.
The competition is being held in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, where athletes from various countries are competing in air rifle and firearm events governed by strict international shooting federation standards.
According to the Turkish Shooting Federation, Kose and Nalbant finished the qualification round with a score of 634.2 points.
This result placed them third in the rankings and earned them the right to compete in the bronze medal match.
The mixed team event pairs one female and one male shooter. Each pair competes in rounds where precision and stability are critical, as the athletes fire from a standing position at electronic targets set at a distance of 10 meters.
In the medal round, Kose and Nalbant faced Italy’s Carlotta Salafia and Danilo Dennis Sollazzo. The Turkish duo prevailed with a score of 16–10, winning the bronze medal and adding a new achievement to the country’s shooting history.
The Turkish federation emphasized that this was the first time Türkiye has won a medal in this specific mixed team category at a world championship, underscoring the growing strength of the national shooting program.
This success reflects Türkiye’s increasing presence in international shooting disciplines, which require technical precision, mental focus, and long-term training.
The result in Cairo stands as a milestone for future teams aiming to compete at the highest level.
