Trabzonspor's Egyptian star Mohamed Salah is reportedly set to receive Turkish citizenship alongside his wife and three children, while plans are also said to be underway to honor the 34-year-old footballer with a prestigious Turkish state medal.
According to Egyptian journalist Mohamed Al-Kaoud, who works with the BBC, Salah could be granted citizenship following his move to Turkish football club Trabzonspor at the beginning of the season.
The claims have not yet been officially confirmed.
Kaoud also claimed that a large ceremony is being planned to recognize Salah's contributions to Türkiye's sports and tourism sectors.
The Egyptian international would reportedly receive the State Medal for Distinguished Service, a Turkish state honor recognizing exceptional contributions, as part of the proposed ceremony.
While the reported plans would extend Turkish citizenship to Salah's wife and three children, no official announcement has been made regarding the citizenship process or the award.
