Egyptian star Mohamed Salah scored his first goal in European competition for Trabzonspor as the Turkish club secured a 4-2 victory over Finland's KuPS Kuopio in the opening round of the UEFA Conference League.
Salah, who has made a strong start to his career with the Black Sea club, contributed a goal and an assist in the match, bringing his overall tally to eight goals and four assists across all official competitions for Trabzonspor.
The Egyptian forward had already established himself as one of the leading scorers in Türkiye's top-flight Super Lig, recording seven goals and three assists in his first seven league appearances. His contributions accounted for 10 of Trabzonspor's 16 league goals during that period.
The goal against KuPS marked Salah's first in European competition for Trabzonspor, adding to his previous tally of 50 UEFA Champions League goals, four in Champions League qualifying rounds and 10 in the UEFA Europa League.
His performance in Finland also saw him carry his domestic scoring form into European competition, contributing directly to two of Trabzonspor's four goals.
Salah made his Trabzonspor debut as a substitute against Kasimpasa in the opening week of the Super Lig season before scoring twice in a 2-1 victory over Basaksehir in his first start.
He followed up with goals against Amed Sportif Faaliyetler and Genclerbirligi, before netting a hat trick against Galatasaray to take his league tally to seven.
The Egyptian also provided assists against Genclerbirligi, Galatasaray and Samsunspor, helping him move to the top of the league's scoring charts alongside Amed Sportif Faaliyetler's Orban.
Salah's growing popularity was also evident during the KuPS encounter, as supporters from both teams applauded him when he was substituted in the second half.
