Fenerbahce has officially signed French midfielder N’Golo Kante, completing a transfer that had been announced earlier and turning it into a formal agreement.
The Istanbul-based club confirmed that the experienced player put pen to paper after arriving in the city by private jet, sealing a move from Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad.
Kante, who is 34, has committed himself to Fenerbahce on a two-and-a-half-year contract.
Following his arrival in Istanbul, the signing ceremony took place at the club’s headquarters, where several board members were present alongside senior figures from Fenerbahce.
Fenerbahce also shared details of the financial package agreed with Kante following his move from Al Ittihad. Under the terms disclosed by the club, the French midfielder received a signing bonus of €14.4 million ($17 million).
For the current season, Kante will earn a salary of €5.5 million. Over the remaining two seasons of his contract, his total earnings will reach €11 million. These figures outline the overall financial commitment made by Fenerbahce as the club finalized the transfer.
Speaking on behalf of the club, sporting director Devin Ozek framed the move as both a sporting and human investment. He pointed out that Kante is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading midfielders and stressed that the club expects to draw heavily on his winning mindset and vast experience at the highest level of the game. Ozek also highlighted the player’s character, noting that Fenerbahce sees him as more than just a footballer.
In a statement, he said, “N’Golo Kante has won almost every major trophy in his career, including the World Cup and the Champions League. We will benefit greatly from his winning mentality and huge experience. We have signed not only a great footballer but also a wonderful human being. Kante will also be one of the leading figures, together with Sidiki, in our one percent project launched for children with disabilities. We say welcome to our family.”
