Türkiye prepares to send nine athletes to the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics as the country expands its presence at the Winter Games.
Athletes will compete across ice, snow, and para-alpine disciplines as Türkiye continues its pursuit of a first Winter Olympic medal.
The 25th Winter Olympic Games will take place in Milano and Cortina d’Ampezzo from Feb. 6 to Feb. 22, 2026.
Türkiye has sent athletes to the Winter Olympics since 1936. The country has not won a medal at the Winter Games.
Türkiye competed with 7 athletes at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics but the delegation has now grown to nine athletes in Italy.

Türkiye secured two Olympic quotas in short track speed skating for the first time in Winter Olympics history.
The country also qualified two ski jumpers for the first time at the Winter Games.

Fatih Arda Ipcioglu and Muhammed Ali Bedir earned Olympic quotas in ski jumping. Türkiye qualified two athletes in this discipline for the first time in Winter Olympics history.
The International Ski Federation Olympic ranking list confirmed their qualification.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports announced that both athletes will represent Türkiye in ski jumping in Italy.
Ipcioglu will compete at the Winter Olympics for the third time. He previously represented Türkiye at PyeongChang 2018 and Beijing 2022.
The Erzurum-born athlete said he felt proud to carry the Turkish flag again at the highest level of winter sports. He thanked those who supported him and said everything he does is for the flag and that athletes only serve as a bridge for that purpose.
The Erzurum Youth and Sports Directorate congratulated Ipcioglu and Bedir and wished them success in their Olympic journey.
Milano Cortina 2026 will host over 3,500 athletes from 93 countries. Competitors will race for 195 medals across 16 Olympic sports and six Paralympic sports.
Women will make up 47 percent of participating athletes. New events such as mixed team skeleton and women’s doubles luge will appear in the Olympic program for the first time.
Milano will host figure skating, speed skating, short track speed skating, and ice hockey. Cortina d’Ampezzo will host women’s alpine skiing, curling, bobsleigh, skeleton, and luge. Val di Fiemme will host cross-country skiing, ski jumping, and Nordic combined. Biathlon events will take place in Anterselva. Bormio will stage men’s alpine skiing and ski mountaineering. Livigno will host freestyle skiing and snowboard competitions.
Norway leads the Winter Olympics history with 148 gold medals. The United States follows with 114. Germany ranks third with 105.
