Some 50 pilots from across Türkiye competed in the Yesilay Paragliding Distance Championship held in the Simav district of Kutahya province, organizers said.
Kutahya is located in western Türkiye, roughly 250 kilometers (155.3 miles) southeast of Istanbul.
The competition took place at the Aksu Takeoff flight site in Hurkus Forest Park, at an elevation of 1,760 meters, a venue used by paragliding clubs for both training flights and competitive events.
The event was organized in collaboration among the Simav District Governorate, Simav Municipality, the Türkiye Aeronautical Sports Federation, the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, the Simav Eynal Aviation and Nature Sports Club, and Yesilay, Türkiye's public health organization focused on combating addiction and promoting healthy living.
Pilots competed across five categories at the Aksu Take Off site, with rankings determined by successful completion of assigned flight tasks throughout the competition.
Serdar Sacti placed first in the general classification.
Emine Inan won the women's category, Utku Berk Ersoy took first in the junior category, and Berkhan Bayraktar led the sport category.
In the club standings, Tokat Municipality Sports Club finished first, followed by Ozgur Kanatlar Sports Club in second and Cameli Municipality Sports Club in third.
The award ceremony was attended by Simav District Governor Bunyamin Karaloglu, Türkiye Aeronautical Sports Federation President Emre Sahin, Simav Eynal Aviation and Nature Sports Club President Celal Akbulut, and the competing athletes.
