Besiktas has taken a decisive step in the summer transfer window with the arrival of Portuguese winger Jota Silva in Istanbul. The Nottingham Forest player is set to undergo medical checks before signing his contract with the Black Eagles.
The 26-year-old arrived at Istanbul on a private flight. He was welcomed by Besiktas officials and a group of enthusiastic fans who greeted him with chants and club flags.
Speaking to reporters at the terminal, Silva expressed his excitement: “I feel very good. I am happy and proud to be here. Joining a big club like Besiktas is an honor.”
Silva also addressed the fans directly, underlining their importance for the team: “They must continue showing their passion for us. We need them. I promise to give 100% on the pitch together with my teammates.”
The Portuguese winger then posed for photographs before leaving the airport to continue the transfer process.
According to club sources, Silva will complete his medical examinations in the coming hours. If no issues arise, he is expected to sign his contract before the closing of the transfer window.
Silva started his career at UD Sousense before making a name at Feirense, Espinho, and Leixoes. His breakthrough came at Casa Pia, where he scored 11 goals in the 2021–22 season, guiding the team back to the Primeira Liga after 83 years. He was named in the league’s “Team of the Season.”
In 2022, Silva joined Vitoria de Guimaraes. He made his European debut in the UEFA Conference League, scoring against Celje. Consistent form earned him awards such as “Player of the Month” and “Forward of the Month” in 2023.
The winger moved to Nottingham Forest in 2024 for €7 million ($8.21 million). He played 32 Premier League matches, scoring three goals in his first season in England.
