Spanish giants Real Madrid have reportedly rejected an €80 million ($87 million) transfer offer from Saudi Arabia for Turkish international Arda Guler, as the club prepares to usher in a new era under Jose Mourinho.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Real Madrid dismissed the proposal without entering negotiations, signaling that the 21-year-old midfielder remains a central part of the club’s long-term plans.
The development comes at a time when the Madrid side is expected to appoint Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho on a two-year contract following a difficult season.
Reports suggested that club officials viewed accepting the offer as a rushed decision, particularly given Guler’s growing importance within the squad.
The Turkish playmaker was described as one of the team’s “untouchable” players, with the club underlining that he is not for sale.
Guler has continued to build up his role at Real Madrid this season, turning out in 50 matches across all competitions while contributing six goals and 14 assists.
The rejected offer would also have brought a major financial boost to Fenerbahce, Guler’s former club in Türkiye.
Under the terms of the player’s transfer agreement, Fenerbahce hold a 20% sell-on clause tied to any future transfer fee. Had the €80 million bid gone through, the Istanbul club would have received €16 million.
