Trabzonspor, one of Türkiye’s four biggest clubs, has set a seasonal record in jersey sales after signing Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, selling more than 116,000 jerseys and potentially generating roughly ₺520 million ($10.6 million) in revenue in less than two months.
Up from 46,000 during the same period last season, the figure represents a 152% increase and sets a new seasonal record for the Black Sea side, according to information Anadolu Agency obtained from club executives.
Trabzonspor sold nearly 200,000 jerseys throughout last season and, having already surpassed the 100,000 mark this season, is expected to comfortably exceed that total. The club’s financial reporting for the June 2025-June 2026 period shows that merchandise revenue reached ₺1.2 billion last season, underscoring the scale of its commercial operations.
Trabzonspor completed the signing of Salah on a two-year contract after the 34-year-old forward left English side Liverpool as a free agent, following nine seasons at the club during which he established himself as one of the Premier League’s leading players.
The deal guaranteed Salah €17 million ($19.4 million) per season, including a €10 million annual salary and a €7 million signing payment each season. The club also agreed to pay an agency fee equivalent to 5% of the player’s gross remuneration.
Under a separate image-rights deal, Salah receives 20% of revenue from products bearing his name and sold through Trabzonspor’s retail company. That would amount to an additional $2 million for Salah, assuming all 116,000 jerseys sold bear his name.
The club has also seen season-ticket sales surpass 25,000 following Salah’s transfer, marking a sharp increase in fan demand from previous years. The figure is more than three times the 7,978 season tickets sold ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, when Trabzonspor put 30,538 season tickets on sale.
Sales had initially reached 18,000, a figure the club described as an all-time record, before Trabzonspor set a new target of 25,000.
Papara Park, Trabzonspor’s home stadium, has a capacity of 41,061, according to the Turkish Football Federation. The current season-ticket sales therefore account for more than 60% of the stadium’s total capacity.
Trabzonspor is one of Türkiye’s most successful football clubs, having won the Turkish top-flight title seven times, most recently in the 2021-22 season. The club also has nine Turkish Cup titles and five Turkish Super Cup titles.
Having scored seven goals and provided two assists in eight appearances so far this season, Salah most recently netted a hat-trick against defending champions Galatasaray at home, leading his team to a 4-0 victory.
