Samsunspor moved through to the last 16 of the UEFA Conference League after a 4-0 home win over Shkendija sealed a 5-0 aggregate victory in the two-legged play-off tie.
The second leg was played at Samsun 19 Mayis Stadium, where the first half ended goalless before the hosts pulled away after the break. Goals from Ntcham, Ndiaye and Marius, who scored twice, turned the match into a one-sided result, while the overall scoreline confirmed Samsunspor’s first-ever qualification for the Conference League last 16.
After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, Samsunspor stepped things up in the second half and ran out 4-0 winners. Ntcham and Ndiaye added goals before Marius struck twice to wrap up the result, leaving Shkendija with no route back into the contest.
In European club competitions, play-off rounds are usually played over two matches, known as a two-legged tie, with each team hosting once. The winner is decided on aggregate, meaning the combined score across both legs. Samsunspor’s 1-0 win in the first leg, followed by a 4-0 victory in the return match, produced a 5-0 aggregate scoreline.
Samsunspor’s last-16 opponent will be either Rayo Vallecano or Shakthar Donetsk. The first leg is scheduled for March 12 in Samsun, with the return match set for March 19 away from home.
