Senegal’s national football team appeared to undergo strict security checks after arriving in the United States for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to a video circulating on social media.

The footage, shared on X by African football journalist Micky Jnr, appeared to show members of the Senegal squad standing on an airport tarmac near their luggage shortly after getting off the aircraft.

Security personnel were seen carrying out inspections before the team was taken into the terminal.

Footage shows players checked on tarmac

In one part of the video, a Senegal player is seen standing with his arms stretched out while a staff member appears to carry out a hand-held security screening.

The players were wearing Senegal team shirts, while their luggage was placed nearby on the tarmac. The video did not include any official explanation for the checks.

There was no immediate statement from Senegalese football authorities, FIFA or the U.S. officials on the footage.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is being hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. Senegal is among the national teams taking part in the tournament.
