Serbia dominated Türkiye in straight sets Sunday evening, winning 3-0 in a Week 3 match of the 2025 FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League at Omnisport Apeldoorn.
The Serbian team controlled the match from start to finish, taking the sets 25-18, 25-20, and 25-18 before a crowd of 2,000 at the indoor arena in Apeldoorn.
The victory came as part of the Pool 7 competition during the third week of preliminary round play, which runs from July 9 to 13. The match began at 6:00 p.m. UTC, with local fans witnessing Serbia's strong performance across all three sets.
The result adds significance to the ongoing rivalry between the two volleyball powerhouses.
Entering the match, Türkiye held a slight historical advantage over Serbia, having won four of their previous seven encounters while outscoring their opponents 15 sets to 13 in recent meetings.
However, Serbia's commanding performance Sunday suggests the team has found strong form as the tournament progresses toward the finals, scheduled for Lodz, Poland, from July 24-27.
The 2025 Volleyball Nations League expanded to 18 teams this year, with newcomers including the Czech Republic and returning squads like Belgium earning their spots through FIVB rankings and results from the 2024 Challenger Cup.
Teams are competing in a preliminary round format where each squad plays 12 matches across three weeks of pool play. The top eight teams will advance to the final round in Poland.
Türkiye will continue Nations League play with matches scheduled for July 16, 17, and 19, while Serbia looks to build on Sunday's strong showing as both teams vie for positions in the final tournament phase.
