Sergen Yalcin has returned as head coach of Besiktas, taking over after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s brief stint ended with a 1-0 defeat to Lausanne in the UEFA Conference League play-off.
The club confirmed the appointment through the Public Disclosure Platform, stating that Yalcin’s contract extends through the 2026-2027 season.
Yalcin previously guided Besiktas to an unforgettable 2020–2021 season, securing both the Super Lig title and the Turkish Cup.
His achievements turned him into a fan favorite, though a decline in results during the 2021-2022 campaign led to his departure.
The return came swiftly after Solskjaer’s exit. Reports indicate that Yalcin accepted the offer in less than 10 minutes following a meeting with club president Serdal Adali, highlighting both the club’s trust in him and the urgent need for a turnaround.
In his second spell, Yalcin faces the challenge of reigniting team motivation and stabilizing Besiktas’ performances in the Super Lig.
His deep connection to the club is expected to inspire both players and fans, with hopes that this bond will translate into powerful performances on the pitch.
