Türkiye’s national billiards player Sinem Kokten won the gold medal in the 10-ball discipline at the Senior Women’s Pool Billiards European Championship in Spain, securing her fourth European title.
Kokten faced Spain’s Lopez Silvia-Fibla in the final in Gandia, a coastal city in Spain’s Valencia region, and won 5-4.
The result brings Kokten’s career total to four European championships. She won her first in 2024 in the 9-ball discipline at the event held in Antalya on Türkiye’s southern Mediterranean coast.
At the 2025 edition in the Netherlands, Kokten won her second European title in the 10-ball discipline and her third in 9-ball. The Gandia final gives her a second 10-ball title in as many editions.
Both 10-ball and 9-ball are rotation-style pool games played on the same table with a cue ball and numbered object balls. In each game, the player must first strike the lowest-numbered ball on the table.
In 10-ball, 10 numbered balls are racked, and every shot must be called in advance, meaning the player names the ball and the pocket; an uncalled pocket does not count.
A player wins a frame by legally pocketing the 10-ball. 9-ball uses nine balls, and players do not need to call shots.
Kokten’s four European titles span three championship editions: 9-ball in 2024, 10-ball and 9-ball in 2025, and 10-ball in 2026.
