Türkiye's Sinop will offer free public transport across the city on April 18 as it hosts a UEFA Women’s World Cup qualifying match between Türkiye and Switzerland, with local authorities putting final preparations in place for both the game and the stadium’s official opening.

Citywide transport, access plans aim to boost turnout

Speaking after inspecting Sinop Sehir Stadi, Governor Mustafa Ozarslan said preparations are being handled in detail, covering traffic flow, healthcare, security, and in-stadium services.

As part of these measures, free minibus and bus services will run from all parts of the city to the stadium on match day.

Ozarslan also noted that free parking areas will be set up around the stadium to ease access, while thousands of Turkish flags will be distributed at the entrance to create a unified match-day atmosphere.

Officials call for strong public support in Sinop

Inviting residents to attend, Ozarslan expressed confidence that people of all ages would turn up with their families to support the national team, emphasizing a collective experience of national pride in the stands.

He said he believes that citizens from “7 to 70” will come together in large numbers, highlighting a phrase commonly used in Türkiye to refer to all age groups.

Stadium opening to coincide with international fixture

Member of Parliament for Sinop, Nazim Mavis, stated that the match will also mark the official opening ceremony of Sinop Sehir Stadi.

The ceremony is expected to take place with the participation of Youth and Sports Minister Osman Askin Bak.

Mavis added that extensive preparations are underway not only in the city center but also across the province’s districts to ensure that visiting fans can attend the match safely and comfortably.

He expressed hope for a national team victory while also underlining that visiting supporters would be welcomed with Sinop’s hospitality.
