Sonmez exists Libema Open in quarter-final defeat to Linette

Turkish tennis player Zeynep Sonmez has been eliminated from the Libema Open in ‘s-Hertogenbosch after losing to Poland’s Magda Linette in the quarterfinals.

The world No. 67 Sonmez faced No. 60 seed Linette in a grass-court encounter at the Dutch tournament.

Linette delivered a composed performance to secure a 6–4, 6–2 victory in straight sets, booking her place in the semifinals.

Sonmez advanced to the quarter-finals at the Libema Open in after defeating fifth seed Anastasia Potapova in the second round.

The Turkish player dominated the first set 6–1 and was leading 2–0 in the second when her opponent retired due to illness.
