The San Antonio Spurs secured their place in the NBA Western Conference Finals with a commanding 139-109 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.

The Detroit Pistons kept their postseason hopes alive by defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers 115-94 in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

San Antonio entered Game 6 holding a 3-2 advantage in the best-of-seven series and delivered a dominant performance from the opening quarter at Target Center in Minneapolis.

The Spurs will now face the top-seeded and defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals, marking San Antonio’s first appearance at that stage since 2017.

Castle leads Spurs' offensive masterclass

Stephon Castle led the Spurs with 32 points and 11 rebounds, shooting 11-of-16 from the field.

De’Aaron Fox added 21 points, while Victor Wembanyama contributed 19 points in a composed display following the controversy surrounding his Game 4 ejection earlier in the series.

Minnesota attempted to respond through Anthony Edwards after trailing heavily in the first half, but San Antonio regained control in the third quarter with disciplined defensive pressure and efficient shooting.

The Spurs extended their lead to 26 points by the end of the period and never allowed the Timberwolves back into contention.

San Antonio shot 56% from the field and dominated in transition and inside the paint throughout the contest.

“The words ‘Conference Finals’ just seem surreal right now,” Wembanyama said after the game. “It’s something I heard my whole life, and now we’re in it.”
