Sultans of the Net set for week 3 of 2025 VNL in Netherlands

The Women's national volleyball team of Türkiye, known as the "Sultans of the Net", is ready to compete in the third week of the 2025 Volleyball Nations League (VNL). While the team continues to aim for the championship, several notable absences in the roster have caught attention.

Türkiye squad for week 3

  • Setters: Elif Sahin, Dilay Ozdemir
  • Opposite: Melissa Vargas
  • Outside Hitters: Ebrar Karakurt, Derya Cebecioglu, Saliha Sahin, Meliha Diken, Yaprak Erkek
  • Middle Blockers: Zehra Gunes, Asli Kalac, Deniz Uyanik, Sinead Jack-Kisal
  • Liberos: Gizem Orge, Eylul Akarcesme Yatgin

Who is missing?

Three key players are not included in Türkiye's squad for the Netherlands leg:

  • Hande Baladin
  • Cansu Ozbay
  • Ilkin Aydin

Why are they absent?

According to the coaching staff, all three players are missing due to injuries:

  • Hande Baladin suffered muscle strain in her left thigh during week 2 and is currently undergoing treatment.
  • Ilkin Aydin also experienced strain in the left thigh muscle and was removed due to persistent pain.
  • Cansu Ozbay felt pain in her foot during the last training session and was placed under medical observation.

The medical team is closely monitoring their recovery.

Upcoming matches

Türkiye will face the Netherlands on Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on TRT Spor Yildiz.

Later in the week, Türkiye will also play against Czechia, Italy, and Serbia.
