Turkish club Trabzonspor has intensified efforts to sign German international Timo Werner from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, according to reports in Turkish media, citing German media.
The 29-year-old forward, currently on loan at Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, is being pursued as part of Trabzonspor’s plans to rebuild after a disappointing domestic season.
RB Leipzig is reportedly open to selling Werner for a transfer fee of around €4 million, a figure seen as attainable for the Black Sea club. German outlets described Trabzonspor as “the most serious contender” for the player, ahead of other suitors, including Major League Soccer clubs.
Werner, who has operated both as a center forward and left winger, made 41 appearances for Tottenham in all competitions during the 2024 season, contributing three goals and seven assists.
The main obstacle to a deal appears to be Werner’s current salary, which is reported to be around €7 million per year. However, sources close to the player suggest he may be willing to reduce his wage demands amid a decline in form.
Fenerbahce is also said to be monitoring the situation, though Trabzonspor is currently seen as the frontrunner.
Werner has previously played for VfB Stuttgart, RB Leipzig, and Chelsea and has earned over 50 caps for the German national team.
