Trabzonspor have reportedly submitted a two-year contract offer to Mohamed Salah that would guarantee the Egyptian forward €17 million ($19.7 million) per season, potentially setting up one of the most high-profile transfers in Turkish football history.
According to Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, Salah's representative has passed the proposal on to the player, who is now expected to assess the sporting project and financial package with his family before giving Trabzonspor a final answer.
The reported agreement would be worth €34 million in guaranteed salary across two seasons, excluding any possible bonuses or additional commercial arrangements.
Trabzonspor's reported move comes only days after another Turkish Super Lig club, Besiktas, put its own pursuit of Salah on hold following disagreements over the financial terms requested by the player's representatives.
Besiktas had reportedly offered Salah a guaranteed annual salary of €15 million, along with performance bonuses that could have taken his earnings to between €19 million and €20 million per season. The proposed two-year package would therefore have cost the Istanbul club more than €40 million if all incentives were triggered.
However, Besiktas Football Director Onder Ozen later said the club had stepped away from active negotiations because the demands put forward during the talks could have undermined its financial principles.
Ozen said Besiktas would not improve its final offer or provide privileges that were unavailable to other players and employees, although he left open the possibility of reconsidering the existing proposal if Salah's representatives accepted it.
Saudi Pro League club Al Ittihad have also reportedly renewed their interest in Salah after his expected departure from Liverpool emerged as a possibility.
Turkish media reports cited an annual offer of $25 million from the Saudi side and claimed that Salah had responded positively. However, neither the player nor Al Ittihad has officially confirmed an agreement.
Al Ittihad previously tried to sign Salah in 2023, when Liverpool turned down a £150 million proposal for the forward.
Trabzonspor's reported offer now adds another option for Salah as competing clubs try to bring in one of the most commercially valuable players in world football.
The 34-year-old has scored 255 goals in 435 appearances for Liverpool, placing him third on the club's all-time scoring list. Since joining the English side from Roma in 2017, he has also helped Liverpool win eight major trophies, including two Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.
No official statement has yet been issued by Trabzonspor, Salah or his representatives regarding the reported proposal.
