In a dramatic turn of events during the 26th week of the Super Lig, Kocaelispor head coach Selcuk Inan took the extraordinary step of sending his entire bench to the locker room following a contentious penalty awarded to Konyaspor in the closing minutes of the match.
Kocaelispor took the lead in the second half and looked set to secure an important win. But Konyaspor responded with Blaz Kramer scoring in the 86th minute to level the match, setting up a tense finish in the closing moments.
In the 90+3rd minute, the referee awarded a penalty to Konyaspor, a decision that immediately sparked heated exchanges on the pitch. Jackson Muleka converted the spot‑kick to secure a 2–1 win for the visitors.
Inan reacted quickly and forcefully, protesting the decision to the match officials and receiving a red card from referee Cihan Aydin for his conduct.
In a move seldom seen at the professional level, Inan then ordered all players and coaching staff on the Kocaelispor bench to leave the sideline and head to the dressing room in protest before the final whistle had blown.
Moments later, video footage confirmed that the home team’s bench area was completely empty as the match reached its conclusion.
