Turkish motorcyclist Can Oncu won the opening race of the World Supersport Championship's French round at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, located roughly 260 kilometers south of Paris.

Riding for the Pata Yamaha Ten Kate team, Oncu completed the nineteen-lap race in first position.

The source describes this as the eighth round of the season. Other current race reporting lists it as the ninth round of the 2026 championship. I'd recommend verifying with AA or another source before we commit to a round number.

Career and standings

The win marks Oncu's first race victory of the 2026 season. The twenty-three-year-old finished runner-up in the 2025 World Supersport standings and has taken seven career wins and thirty-six podium finishes in the class since joining in 2020.

Born in Alanya, on Türkiye's southern Mediterranean coast, he began his career in Grand Prix racing before moving into Supersport competition.

Oncu is set to compete in the second race of the Magny-Cours weekend on Sunday, scheduled to start at 1:40 p.m. local time.
