Turkish midfielder Arda Guler featured in Real Madrid’s starting lineup for the club’s opening La Liga match of the season. The Spanish giants hosted Osasuna and secured a 1-0 victory thanks to Kylian Mbappe’s penalty.
The 20-year-old played almost the entire match, being substituted by Dani Ceballos in the 90th minute. Guler completed the game with an impressive 92% pass accuracy.
Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso highlighted Guler’s development after the match. “Arda is progressing step by step. Not just in quality—which was already clear—but also in his understanding of positions and his overall control on the pitch.
He provided stability and linked the game well, giving us constant attacking options in the first half. We should support him and give him more minutes to become an important player. I’m happy for him,” Alonso said.
On Instagram, Guler shared: “Starting the season with a win feels great. We will work every day to get even better.”
Experts and journalists have taken notice of Guler’s performance in his La Liga debut. The Real Champs emphasized Alonso’s praise for Güler, noting: “For a young player at Real Madrid, you couldn’t ask for higher recognition. Since Alonso took charge, Güler has consistently started matches and already shown noticeable improvement.
