Türkiye's national women's volleyball team defeated Slovenia 3-0 in the round of 16 at the FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship on Monday, securing their spot in the quarterfinals for the second consecutive tournament.
The Turkish squad completed group play with a perfect 3-0 record before facing Slovenia in the round of 16 match in Bangkok. Türkiye won the first set 30-28 and dominated the second set 25-13.
The third set proved to be the most competitive, with Türkiye leading 24-20 before Slovenia mounted a comeback, scoring four consecutive points to take a 25-24 advantage. The extended set continued to 29 points before captain Eda Erdem scored the match-winning point to complete the 3-0 victory.
Türkiye will face the United States in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, September 3. The match time will be announced later.
This marks the second consecutive World Championship where Türkiye's women's volleyball team has reached the quarterfinal stage of the tournament.
